Keselowski, JR Motorsports To Cup?

May 21, 2009

Jayski is reporting via ESPN Insider that JR Motorsports may move to cup in 2010, with Nationwide Series driver Brad Keselowski behind the wheel.

In order for that to happen, Rick Hendrick would have to sell his ownership stake in the team, due to NASCAR’s car ownership limit, but that would be a formality.

Keselowski is negotiating exclusively with Hendrick Motorsports. HMS does not have an opening for a driver next year, which could lead to JRM moving to Cup.

Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr has said previously that it may be more economical to move to Cup, which is sure to fuel a lot of the rumors.

Another option mentioned would be putting Keselowski in a third Stewart Haas Racing car, which is powered by HMS engines and chassis.

The report speculates that Keselowski in a SHR Chevy would kill rumors than Martin Truex Jr will leave Earnhardt Ganassi Racing for SHR next year.

That may not be the case, however, because SHR could always expand to found cars.

Martin Wins Southern 500

May 11, 2009

Mark Martin took the lead in the closing laps of the Southern 500 from Darlington Raceway, and drove to victory, his second of the season. Jimmie Johnson completed the Hendrick Motorsports 1-2 sweep, finishing second.

All in all, it was a pretty good day for Hendrick, with Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.

Top 5: Martin, Johnson, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, and Gordon.

Martin Truex Jr, Keselowski, Greg Biffle, Joey Logano, Matt Kenseth finished sixth through tenth, respectively.

Notables: Kevin Harvick (11th), Jeff Burton (12th), Denny Hamlin (13th), Kurt Busch (16th), Kasey Kahne (23rd), Dale Earnhardt Jr (27th), Carl Edwards (32nd), Kyle Busch (34th),  Clint Bowyer (37th), and David Ragan (38th).

Give a call to Brad Keselowski who proved his victory at Talladega Superspeedway two weeks ago wasn’t a fluke. He drove the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevy to a seventh-place finish. Dale Earnhardt Jr., however, struggled throughout the day and never ran consistently in the top 10. He finished 27th after spinning in the closing laps.

Teenage Fan Suffers Broken Jaw From Debris From Edwards Wreck

April 29, 2009

A seventeen year old girl was among those injured in the wreck that occured on the final lap of the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Blake Bobbitt was hit by a piece of sheet metal that flew into the grandstands where she and her father were seated after Carl Edwards hit the catchfence and sent debris flying into the stands after making contact with Brad Keselowski and being sent airborne by contact with Ryan Newman.

Bobbitt suffered a broken jaw. She was stabilized, and taken to the infield care center. Shortly thereafter, she was transported to the a local hospital where she underwent reconstructive surgery and inserted two plates into her jaw.

Edwards called the hospital to check on her status, and make sure she was okay.

She is expected to make a full recovery, and is expected to be released from the hospital sometime today.

I, for one, am glad to hear that.
