One of the things that continues to baffle me this season is how Travis Kvapil has some pretty good runs, yet he still doesn’t have a consistent sponsor.
This season, Kvapil posted top 10s at Las Vegas, Talladega, Darlington, and finished 11th at Dover.
He also posted top 20s at Martinsville, Texas, and Richmond. And, he hasn’t finished lower than 36th all season. I know that’s not great, but good if you’re battling to stay in the top 35 in owner points.
Over the last six races, he’s the 10th-best driver, which is higher than Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick. That’s no small feat.
He’s solidly in the top 35 in owner points, at 19th. And still, he’s driving an all-white car. Sure, he picks up sponsors from time to time, but come on, some company needs to sign on longer term.
If Robert Yates Racing gets a long term sponsorship deal, and the dollars that come with it, maybe Kvapil will be a little more competitive.
