Kyle Busch Wins Best Buy 400

June 1, 2008

Kyle Busch dominated the second half of the Best Buy 400 at Dover International Speedway, and earned his fourth victory of the season.

Rounding out the top 5 were Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, and Jeff Gordon.

Martin Truex Jr., defending race winner, finished sixth, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Burton, Dave Blaney, and Jamie McMurray.

Notables: Mark Martin (23rd), Kasey Kahne (31st), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (35th), Clint Bowyer (36th), Kevin Harvick (38th), Tony Stewart (41st), and Denny Hamlin (43rd).

On lap 18, Elliott Sadler turned down in front of David Gilliland, the two made contact, sending Sadler into the wall. Sadler’s No. 19 Dodge bounced off the wall and came to rest in the middle of the track.

Stewart came off the corner and drove right into Sadler’s car. His car turned towards the inside wall, effectively blocking the track.

Earnhardt Jr. managed to slow down and avoid hitting both cars. As he drove around Stewart’s car, Bobby Labonte hit him from behind, sending him into the inside wall. He splitter got stuck under the wall.

Hamlin, much like Stewart, came off the corner and couldn’t get whoaed down before he hit Sadler’s car.

All in all, the accident involved: Sadler, Gilliland, Stewart, Earnhardt Jr. Harvick, Labonte, Paul Menard, Kasey Kahne, Scott Riggs, Clint Bowyer, and Bill Elliott.

Stewart said:

I take 100 percent responsibility — it’s my fault for being anywhere close to Elliott [Sadler]. If I’m within half a lap of him, I expect that to happen. It’s my fault — I’m the one that hit him. When I hit him it caused all the guys behind us to wreck, so it’s my fault.
